Rainbow Blossom Natural Food Market

This week‘s interview takes place at Rainbow Blossom Natural Food Market in St. Matthews and I sit down with the owner and operator Summer Auerbach. I have been a long time shopper and at one point in my youth, an employee of this company and its such a great place to shop. They have five locations and just over the last couple years, opened a juice and smoothie bar in two of their locations. Celebrating over 45 years in the Louisville business, Rainbow Blossom is a staple grocery in our town where you can get more than just healthful groceries. Some of their locations offer health and wellness classes and workshops and they even host outdoor farmers markets in their parking lots.
I worked there for a couple of years in my very early 20’s and it was an incredibly transformative time in my life. I had just come home from a failed first year at WKU and needed a job while I was going to school at UofL. I passed by the RB in Middletown and stopped in for an application. What I learned while working there and the amount that I grew as an individual are priceless. I became very aware of the world and what I was putting into my body and my mind. Rainbow Blossom was a safe space for me to ’blossom’ as a young women trying to navigate life. Although I left some years later to pursue other work, I have always been an avid supporter and shopper at Rainbow Blossom. If you haven’t been to one of their five locations yet, I highly suggest that you go and check it out!
